Limited challenge for advanced players
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to play golf in the lap of Arizona luxury, with mountain views, a meticulously redesigned layout, and service that spoils you, then The Phoenician Golf Club delivers an experience you’ll be bragging about long after the last putt drops.
Tucked at the base of Camelback Mountain and serving as the crown jewel of The Phoenician Resort. This Troon-managed masterpiece is not just another desert track, it's an 18-hole beauty that’s been sculpted for playability, visual drama, and that perfect blend of challenge and fun. From elevated tee shots to lush fairways cut through the Sonoran desert, The Phoenician is that rare mix of five-star resort polish and genuinely enjoyable golf.
With majestic mountains, desert framing, and sweeping city views, the Phoenician is every bit as stunning in person as it appears in photos. More refined than other Scottsdale tracks, its beauty shines through every hole, delivering visuals that consistently impress.
Modern, welcoming, and stocked like a dream for gear heads and resort shoppers alike. Whether you’re hunting for a new polo or just sipping a cold drink after the round, this place feels elevated without being pretentious.
The Phoenician’s putting greens are beautifully maintained, offering smooth rolls and a scenic desert backdrop that make every putt enjoyable, all the while keeping you honest. While speeds can vary at times, the overall playability and refined resort style ensure a positive and memorable experience.
Fairways are challenging enough to keep your focus, but wide and clean enough that high-handicappers won’t feel punished. You can miss a bit and still have a shot, which makes it ideal for mixed-skill groups and family golf days.
Even with morning tee sheets packed, Troon management keeps the round moving. Expect a steady flow, not a crawl, even during peak hours.
The food and beverage experience adds real flavor to the round, with cold beers, cocktails, and grab‑and‑go favorites like wraps, sandwiches, and chips available right at the turn. While prices reflect the luxury setting, the convenience, quality, and atmosphere ensure dining is a memorable complement to the golf.
The Par 4-14th hole gives a great snapshot of what this course offers. A short, drivable hole with some of the best views around. With the highest elevation point of the course, it's nestled beautifully at the base of Camelback Mountain with picture worthy views of downtown Phoenix, South Mountain and Papago surrounding you.
This layout is forgiving without being boring. The par 71 routing has smartly placed bunkers and carries that challenge better players, but a mid-handicapper can absolutely walk away with a proud number.
No. 3 is a gem! A perched green wrapped in bunkers that adds early drama to the round. Honorable mention: No. 11 with its downhill shot and Papago Park views that remind you you’re in Arizona golf paradise.
Playing The Phoenician is a true pleasure, with stunning scenery and a course that felt worth the splurge. While the premium price and resort‑style challenge may appeal to everyone, the overall experience was unforgettable and absolutely worth doing.
In a city filled with high-end courses, The Phoenician stands out for its balance of comfort, conditioning, and scenery. It’s not the toughest or quirkiest in Scottsdale, but it’s absolutely one you’ll tell your friends you checked off.
The Phoenician Golf Club is a luxurious, meticulously maintained, and genuinely fun course that nails what resort golf should be: playable, memorable, and just indulgent enough to feel special. Yes, you’ll pay for the privilege, but what you get, conditioning, views, service, and bragging rights, can be worth the splurge. If Scottsdale golf is a buffet of incredible options, The Phoenician should be included on your menu!
