If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to play golf in the lap of Arizona luxury, with mountain views, a meticulously redesigned layout, and service that spoils you, then The Phoenician Golf Club delivers an experience you’ll be bragging about long after the last putt drops.
Tucked at the base of Camelback Mountain and serving as the crown jewel of The Phoenician Resort. This Troon-managed masterpiece is not just another desert track, it's an 18-hole beauty that’s been sculpted for playability, visual drama, and that perfect blend of challenge and fun. From elevated tee shots to lush fairways cut through the Sonoran desert, The Phoenician is that rare mix of five-star resort polish and genuinely enjoyable golf.
The mountains, the desert framing, the city views, it is as gorgeous in person as it looks in carefully curated feeds. It’s less rugged and more refined than other Scottsdale tracks, but the visuals never disappoint.
Modern, welcoming, and stocked like a dream for gear heads and resort shoppers alike. Whether you’re hunting for a new polo or just sipping a cold drink after the round, this place feels elevated without being pretentious.
The putting surfaces run true, smooth, and with just enough contour to keep you honest. Not tour-speed slick, but definitely quick enough to reward a confident stroke and penalize a lazy read.
Fairways are challenging enough to keep your focus, but wide and clean enough that high-handicappers won’t feel punished. You can miss a bit and still have a shot, which makes it ideal for mixed-skill groups and family golf days.
Even with morning tee sheets packed, Troon management keeps the round moving. Expect a steady flow, not a crawl, even during peak hours.
The halfway house does its job, quality sandwiches (the turkey is apparently addictive), drinks, and quick turn-friendly service. It won’t blow your mind, but it absolutely fuels the back nine.
The Par 4-14th hole gives a great snapshot of what this course offers. A short, drivable hole with some of the best views around. With the highest elevation point of the course, it's nestled beautifully at the base of Camelback Mountain with picture worthy views of downtown Phoenix, South Mountain and Papago surrounding you.
This layout is forgiving without being boring. The par 71 routing has smartly placed bunkers and carries that challenge better players, but a mid-handicapper can absolutely walk away with a proud number.
No. 3 is a gem! A perched green wrapped in bunkers that adds early drama to the round. Honorable mention: No. 11 with its downhill shot and Papago Park views that remind you you’re in Arizona golf paradise.
Here’s the truth: it’s pricey. The premium is real. But this is an experience, not just a round.
In a city filled with high-end courses, The Phoenician stands out for its balance of comfort, conditioning, and scenery. It’s not the toughest or quirkiest in Scottsdale, but it’s absolutely one you’ll tell your friends you checked off.
The Phoenician Golf Club is a luxurious, meticulously maintained, and genuinely fun course that nails what resort golf should be: playable, memorable, and just indulgent enough to feel special. Yes, you’ll pay for the privilege, but what you get, conditioning, views, service, and bragging rights, is worth the splurge at least once. If Scottsdale golf is a buffet of incredible options, The Phoenician is the five-star entrée that leaves you satisfied, smiling, and already planning your next trip back.
