COBRA KING and KING MAX IRONS: built for mid-to-high handicaps offering huge distance, high flight, and legit stopping power

If modern golfers want irons that launch higher, fly farther, and feel better, Cobra just answered with two heavy hitters joining the KING franchise.

The arrival of the new KING and KING MAX irons signals something bigger than a simple yearly update. These two new models officially join the KING franchise, and together they represent Cobra’s most advanced step yet into the max-game-improvement category.

And the secret sauce? A blend of cutting-edge engineering, weight-saving design, and player-friendly shaping that makes launch and consistency feel automatic.

At the heart of both new irons is Cobra’s commitment to 3D printing, but used in a smarter, more efficient way. Rather than printing the entire head like their 3DP MB lineup, Cobra created a 3D-printed lattice medallion made from lightweight ABS. It saves up to five grams — a small number with massive consequences. That subtle tweak drops the CG by two full millimeters, unlocking higher launch, steeper descent, and increased ball speed without touching the lofts.

Paired with a redesigned Catapult Weight, the entire structure of the iron is built to flex. Face, sole, and body all move together at impact, delivering faster ball speeds and more consistent distance across the face. Combine that with the 360 SPEEDSHELL, Cobra’s face tech that increases flex by 23%, and you’ve got an iron that simply wants the ball to go high, far, and straight.

And then there’s the SKID SOLE, a nod to Phil Rodgers’ original wedge genius. Cobra reshaped the leading edge, added bounce, flattened the midsole, and created a sole that digs less, launches more, and stays stable through every type of turf. It’s no surprise these irons are tracking to be some of Cobra’s easiest-to-hit offerings ever.

  • KING is built for faster swingers in the 10–20 handicap range who want all the speed and forgiveness without sacrificing control.

  • KING MAX brings a wider profile, more offset, and weaker lofts, ideal for players who need easy launch, draw bias, and stability on heel/toe misses.

What both deliver is exactly what modern mid-to-high handicaps crave: huge distance, high flight, and legit stopping power

These aren’t just fast. They’re thoughtful. Tuned. Elevated.

The KING franchise just got two major new players and they're built to help real golfers hit more greens, more consistently, with less effort.
