9 Fun Golfer Facts about CAMERON YOUNG and his win at The 2025 Wyndham Championship

Cameron Young - VINDICATED!

AUG 4, 2025 - Cameron Young finally shook the monkey off his back!  After seven painful runner-up finishes, the 94th time proved to be the charm, as Young secured his long-awaited first PGA Tour victory in style, firing a final-round 68 to finish at 22-under-par. He didn’t just win, he dominated, cruising to a six-shot victory that tied the tournament scoring record and made him the 1,000th unique winner in PGA Tour history.

The fireworks started early Sunday. After a bogey on the opening hole, Young went on a heater, rattling off five birdies in a row from holes 2 through 6. By the time the front nine was done, he had built a nine-shot lead...yes 9!  He left the field in his dust. Even with a couple of late bogeys, the cushion was plenty. Nobody came close.

Young was especially lethal on the front side all week, playing it a combined 18-under-par, a key reason he tied the all-time tournament scoring record at Sedgefield. His breakout win catapulted him from 40th to 16th in the FedEx Cup standings, setting up a strong postseason run and igniting buzz about a Ryder Cup captain’s pick. Bethpage Black is the 2025 host, and wouldn’t you know it, Young won there as an amateur.

Mac Meissner gave chase with a solo second at 16-under, but it wasn’t enough to crack the top 70 and make the playoffs. Matti Schmid did barely make it, birdieing his final three holes to grab the last playoff spot by five points.

But this week belonged to Cameron Young. Long overdue, well-earned, and impossible to miss — the wait is over.
